We can specify and provide industrial/commercial heaters for freeze protection and process temperature maintenance, commercial/residential heat trace cables for applications such as freeze protection, snow melting, frost heave prevention, hot water temperature maintenance, and roof/gutter de-icing. All-inclusive heat trace cable kits and a full line of controls/accessories are also available. Our custom designed solutions provide installers and users with reliable and energy efficient products that are supported by highly experienced support staff and field product technicians.

Heat Trace System Design and Installation

Heat trace system design and installation is driven by IEEE Standard for the Testing, Design, Installation, and Maintenance of Electrical Resistance Trace Heating Systems (IEEE 515). This standard provides requirements for the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical heat trace systems in general industrial applications (pipes, tanks) as well as commercial applications such as hot water lines, embedded snow melting, freeze protection, floor warming and sprinkler systems.

Commercial applications of electric heat trace products for deicing of roof, gutters, pavement, freeze protection of sprinkler piping and standpipe of fire suppression systems should be installed in accordance with installation in accordance with the installation guidelines of the NEC, ANSI/NFPA 70 and the IEEE 515.1.

It is important to understand electric heat trace systems follow the IEEE 515 and 515.1 as applicable for safe operation of of any electric heat trace system (below is an excerpt from the IEEE 515.1). Liberty Electric Products will work with our customers to get a complete understanding of the system temperature requirements and the selected product rating, number of circuits required, avoiding cable overlaps, providing proper insulation, grounding, monitoring and controls to ensure that the system exceeds its requirements.
